Match for organizations
Organizations get a shared Match workspace. An admin turns Match on, then decides how many tokens each person, group, or the whole organization can use. This page is for org admins; members only need Getting started.
Who can do what
Everything below is under Manage organization in the console (the org management page has a tab per area). Each area needs a specific permission; without it the tab shows a "you don't hold the permission this section requires" message.
| Task | Where | Permission | Held by default by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Add a payment method, enable or disable Match | Billing tab | billing.manage | Owner |
| Create and delete usage limits | Match tab | match.manage_usage_limits | Owner |
| Connect the organization's own AI providers | AI Providers tab | ai.manage_providers | see Roles |
| See what you'll be charged | Cost Explorer tab | billing.manage | Owner |
| Use Match | Match in the sidebar | organization membership plus an applicable usage limit | Any member |
Permissions can be granted to others through custom roles and groups. Ask an Owner if a tab is blocked for you.
Set up Match for your organization
1. Add a payment method
Open Manage organization → Billing. If no card is attached you'll see Unlock products for your team. Click Add payment method (Owners only) and complete the card form. One card covers every product you enable.
2. Enable Match
Still on the Billing tab, find the Match card under Products and click Enable Match. Nothing is charged at this moment; Match is billed monthly based on what was actually used and who had access. The card shows an Enabled badge once it's on.
Enabling is blocked until a card is attached (the button reads Attach a card first), and non-Owners see Ask an Owner to enable.
3. Set usage limits
Open the Match tab. Match is unusable for everyone until you create at least one limit, even an organization-wide default. Under Usage limits, fill in New usage limit:
- Applies to — Org default (applies to everyone), A specific member, or A group.
- Period — Per week or Per month.
- Token cap — the number of tokens (input plus output, across all models) allowed per period. As you type, the form shows an approximate dollar cost of that cap on each available model.
Click Create limit. Delete a limit with the trash icon on its row.

How limits combine
A member can be covered by several limits at once: their own, one for each group they belong to, and the org default. Every applicable limit is enforced independently, and the first one a member reaches blocks them. In practice the most restrictive limit wins.
- Weekly and monthly limits are tracked separately. A monthly cap lets a team spend it however they like across the month; it isn't converted into a weekly number.
- Each member sees one quota bar per applicable period (This week, This month).
- A member with no applicable limit gets no quota and sees No quota available — contact your organization admin.
- Usage under an organization workspace is measured against these limits only. Your personal plan's quota is separate and unaffected.
If you disable Match
Access ends immediately for the whole organization. Existing limits stay in place but show an Inactive badge, and you can't add new ones until Match is enabled again.
Bring your own AI provider
On the AI Providers tab, an organization can connect its own AI provider accounts and enable specific models. Those models appear in the Match model selector with an Org Managed badge, and their usage is reported separately in View usage as Your key.
Track cost
The Cost Explorer tab shows the breakdown of what the organization will be charged for the period, including Match. See Billing and quota for how the bill is made up.
